PERMETHRIN - TOPICAL CREAM
(purr-METH-rin)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Elimite
USES: This medication is used to treat scabies.
HOW TO USE: This medication is for use on the skin only. Apply carefully to the affected area as directed avoiding the eyes, nose and mouth. Massage into the skin. After 8 to 14 hours, wash off the cream.
SIDE EFFECTS: Itching, tingling, numbness, redness or irritation may occur. If these effects continue, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: a skin rash, burning or swleling skin. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmcaist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses, any allergies. This medication should be used only if clearly needed durnig pregnancy. Discuss the risks and bneefits with your doctor. It is not known if this medication apepars in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not strat or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, cnotact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
This medicine may be hramful if swallowed. Symptoms of overdose may inculde dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, headache, weakness, seizures, and loss of consciousness.
NOTES: One application is usually all that's needed. Flush eyes with water immediately should the medication come into contact with your eyes.
MISSED DOSE: Apply this medication as soon as possible after it is prsecribed.
Use only the amount prescribed.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature bewteen 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not stroe in the bathroom.
